Outside Is Our Specialty

JONESPLAN excels in demanding construction projects that involve skilled labor, weather challenges, limited access, and meticulous attention to detail. While many projects tend to undervalue the outdoors, for us, it's the cornerstone of our work.

Our extensive 20-year portfolio boasts manicured, award-winning campuses, parks, and public spaces, as well as less-obvious but strictly regulated land restoration and wetland mitigation projects.

Our capabilities span the entire spectrum, adapting to the unique needs of each project and its team. We can serve as a construction manager overseeing an entire project, operate as a self-performing general contractor, or act as a highly skilled subcontractor specializing in specific scope items.

Project Role: General Contractor

Self-performance is our team’s strategic advantage. As your general contractor, Jonesplan can maintain tight control of overall schedules, budget and quality. Each of our crew members is cross-trained and skilled in nearly all facets of landscape construction. This provides us flexibility to sequence events in their ideal order, plan around inclement weather and eliminate reliance on subcontractor schedules. We can identify areas of potential savings, minimize scope gaps, and build a complete package that exceeds the sum of its parts.

Project Role: Subcontractor

Jonesplan has a proven track record of handling the intricacies of larger projects that include complicated and highly designed outdoor spaces, so we've been invited to participate in many noteworthy projects, both during the planning stages and as the eventual subcontractor. Our expertise in best horticultural practices, preliminary budgeting, and means and methods provide the general contractor and owner essential knowledge during design, preconstruction and the build. Our track record with successful projects gives the team confidence that we will execute the scope per the contract and as designed.

Project Role: Construction Manager

Our Construction Management services exceed the baseline requirements of schedule, quality, budget, and safety to include a strategic focus on the critical components that ensure flourishing outdoor spaces. When acting as Construction Manager, we are able to leverage our comprehensive knowledge of the landscape construction marketplace for our customer. Our experienced management team (with backgrounds in horticulture, construction, and architecture) weighs the economy versus risk of bidding out work to subcontractors or choosing to complete the work ourselves. We maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and have success managing the completion of elements outside the landscape construction scope. We are highly collaborative, often working with the Architect and Owner during budgeting, aiding in the development of details, and making recommendations on project specifics.
