Children’s Discovery Garden

Award-Winning Project

Children’s Discovery Garden is two acres of a fantastical “wonderland” garden, offering experience-based learning opportunities that are highly relevant in today’s revolution toward outdoor learning.

The focal point of the garden is the “Stream Valley,” which begins as water flowing through streams and ponds from the mouth of the “Spring Giant”, a fifteen foot hand-carved concrete creature. A tree fort, stone amphitheater, spiral mosaic walk, spitting animal sculptures, musical instruments, an art wall, and whimsical features are all surrounded by thousands of plants that further engage the senses.

Building on successful collaboration with the architects and owner during the construction of the Floral Terraces garden, JONESPLAN assisted again during preconstruction and was hired as construction manager.

The result? An architecturally beautiful and naturally playful space, completed on time and within the control estimate.
