Liberty Garden & Lotus Pool

Completed July 2023

Tulsa Botanic Garden's original master plan continues to be brought to life with the addition of the Stanford Family Liberty Garden and Bumgarner Lotus Pool. Construction of the two new gardens was a collaboration between JONESPLAN and Manhattan Construction Company, bringing ample space to host both public and private events.

The Stanford Family Liberty Garden extends into the middle of the botanic garden’s central lake, becoming a major focal point and stunning outdoor area for events. Built on a reshaped peninsula, Liberty Garden is connected to the rest of the gardens by a 31-foot pre-engineered bridge featuring Art Deco architectural elements.

The Bumgarner Family Foundation Lotus Pool is a remarkable aquatic garden adorned with floating gardens, water lily and lotus shelves, an upper pond where water flows over a large riffle into the lotus pool below, and three stone wall overlooks for additional viewpoints of the pool. Floating gardens home to hibiscuses, irises and other water-loving plants extend into the pool in a spiral pattern. Thirty water fountain jets create a continuation of blade walls at lookout areas, transforming the wall from stone to water fountains. The illuminated jets add to other lighting features, offering dramatic nighttime views.
