From high school athletics to private & public golf courses to university-level sports complexes, our exceptional team’s understanding of the dynamics of athletic facilities and their required amenities, combined with effective communication with team management, athletic directors, and strategic partners, makes us a leader among sports construction professionals.

As a GCBAA Builder Member, our 20-year golf portfolio is vast and includes full ground-up construction and renovation of elite courses.  We collaborate closely with superintendents and owners to develop work scopes that fit the timeline and budget, and strategies that employ the best technologies, grasses, and crew for the job. With extensive experience in all areas of the course, we offer full bunker, sand trap, fairway, tee box, and putting greens installation, bridge and cart-path installation, full drainage and irrigation systems, pond, creek & water feature work, and much more, all with a goal of keeping membership downtime to a minimum.

In addition to golf, JONESPLAN’s list of projects covers a wide array of sports, and we pride ourselves on delivering playing surfaces that enhance performance, minimize injuries, and provide an unforgettable experience for both players and spectators.

Each year, we spend the soccer season quickly transforming a natural grass baseball field into a soccer pitch and then back again for each game, keeping up with team schedules even at times when there is only a day between baseball and soccer.  Natural grass surfaces in our resume also include rugby, tennis, croquet and bocci.

Our synthetic playing surface portfolio includes artificial turf football, baseball, and soccer fields for both practice and competition levels, and putting greens for both public and private use.  We also offer poured-in-place sport-court surfacing and have installed it for basketball, baseball, track & field events, and general play areas.

As our continued relationships with athletic complexes such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Jenks Athletics, ONEOK Field, and more show, you can trust JONESPLAN with your sports needs.  We lay the groundwork so you can focus on practicing, competing, and impressing your athletes and their spectators.

Projects of Note

  • ONEOK Field

Each season, JONESPLAN conducts at least 22 separate mobilization and demobilization events to convert ONEOK Field from a baseball field to a soccer pitch and then back again. The conversions are a challenge because acceptable sod can only be harvested during a certain time of year, the hours are long and often during holidays, the very quick installations required cause safety concerns, and strict quality control for a suitable and safe pitch is necessary. Over the years, by working with the team management for both FC Tulsa and Tulsa Drillers, as well as tight coordination with Riverview Sod Ranch, JONESPLAN has streamlined the award-winning conversion process to allow for quick, safe and successful installation and demobilization.

  • Oklahoma State University Sports

Throughout the years, JONESPLAN has helped beautify and improve one of America’s best campuses by working on projects throughout the OSU Athletic Village. While abiding by strict NCAA tolerances, a USGA-specified infield was installed for the new track facility as well as additional field event locations. At the football practice facility and at the marching band practice area, indoor, outdoor, natural, and artificial surfaces were meticulously laser-graded. The off-field areas at the baseball facility and soccer surrounds were graded to promote adequate surface drainage and then finish-graded and grassed. Tailgating areas, the tennis center surrounds and additional areas around campus were also graded and sodded.

  • Golf Club of Oklahoma

JONESPLAN collaborated with the club to develop an updated style for the bunkers across their 540-acre property by deciding upon a theme of Zoysiagrass-faced bunkers. Bunker Solution’s liner system was installed to help hold the sand in place on the slopes and reduce the amount of contamination from silt and organic materials, and USGA specified bunker sand was installed. Ultimately this award-winning project included nineteen greens complexes with 55 bunkers developed by either fully rebuilding existing bunkers, splitting oversized bunkers into separate ones, or creating completely new bunkers.

  • Jenks Athletic Fields

Project under construction: To offer the Tulsa Metro sports community a better playing surface when the ground is too rain-saturated for grass field play, JONESPLAN and a local turf company will convert some of the natural playing surfaces into 3 artificial turf fields earmarked for specific training, programming and games. JONESPLAN’s role is to prepare the field’s base layer through precise laser-grading and add a drainage system for the playing surfaces.

  • High School Athletics

Luther Public Schools, Will Rogers High School, Claremore-Sequoyah High School and Jenks High School

The track and field package for the new stadium and track facility for Luther Public Schools consisted of a well-designed natural grass field surrounded by a Fisher Tracks Poly Mat SS track over stabilized subgrade and asphalt base with concrete curbing at both edges. The field had an extensive water collection design which included a pre-sloped drain system at the track edge to catch surface water and an extensive perforated underground drain system to collect groundwater under the field. Irrigation was installed along the sidelines and a traveling sprinkler was utilized for the center of the field to keep irrigation heads out of the playing surfaces. Field events were added to include long jump, pole vault, high jump area, discus and shot put. An existing grass football field at Will Rogers High School was renovated for artificial turf. Work consisted of excavation, grading, concrete curbing at the existing track edge, drainage, gravel base work, goal post installation, and new artificial Desso Sports Systems turf. At Claremore-Sequoyah High School, JONESPLAN installed concrete perimeter curbing and prepped the subgrade for the field. A field drainage system including pipe, fabric and gravel was installed and the final gravel surface was compacted and laser graded prior to turf installation by others. Two projects for the Jenks High School Baseball Complex included basework, drainage and concrete for the baseball infield practice area and a new entry plaza consisting of a ticket booth and pavilion, landscape and irrigation, an ornamental fence with stone columns, concrete walkways, and a poured-in-place rubber diamond play area.
